End of Quarter 1!!

I’m really happy with how I did in our English class this quarter. I started a little iffy, but I got the hang of things after about a week or so. I have already learned a ton—probably more in this first quarter than I learned all of last year in LA. The most important things that I learned were how to construct a good thesis, and how to site sources correctly. With those skills, I think I improved a lot in writing a five-paragraph essay. To “strengthen our learning community” I can contribute more to the class by sharing my ideas. My goals for quarter two are to continue improving my structured writing. I’m stronger at writing when there’s no format, so I need to work on writing solid papers that have structure. Another goal is to get outside reading out of the way because it’s a real pain to do it at the end of the quarter when there is already so much going on. Things went pretty well this quarter and to improve, I will stay on top of my homework load.

Hey Maggie!
I like how you set goals for yourself and I wish you best of look. EE10 has really helped me form good thesis statements as well, but I know I can do even better as time progresses. Good job!

I feel your pain about outside reading. I really need to work on that too... And your statment about writing theses is correct. Now prove it with three main ideas.

maggie-I understand how you feel about the class being kind of a lot. Especially for me because I've never been in an enriched english class before. It's also good that you learned a lot more this year than last year. I'm sure that will make Ms. F really happy!

Maggie: I agree with your statement about contributing more to the class. That was also one of my ways to strengthen our class community. Outside reading can definately be a big pain near the end of the quarter. I think many people didn't realize how much effort it would take to blog once a week and cite two examples. Now that we know, we can both get our outside books finished and enjoy them too.

Maggie! I totally agree with you when you said, "I have already learned a ton-probably more in this first quarter than I learned all of last year in LA." Ms. Loo..?
And what you said about a structured essay...you can do it. You're a great writer and now you've got some new skills to do awsome second quarter!

I think you've learned so much this quarter because you've really put forth a strong effort. As we write the research paper, pay particular attention to your outline (come see me for feedback during lab days) as this will help you to achieve your goal of writing papers with clearer organization.
